Served an ace…
In these excellent strips from Ian Dairin we learn how tennis rackets are made and pick up some useful vocabulary too…
- Dad? Is it true that rackets are made from cats’ guts?
- Yep…
- Uncle Robert?
- Dad… I can’t find my racket…
- Have a good look, dear, it’s not like Katz would have taken it to play with!
- Rest in peace!
Tonton = Uncle (informal, oncle = formal)
C’est vrai que = Is it true that/It’s true that (depending on intonation)
Cherche bien = “Search well” or “have a good look”
Pour jouer avec = To play with
